Goodwood Festival of Speed

Yesterday we went to Goodwood Festival of Speed in Chichester, West Sussex in the UK.  It was my first time at the Festival and was really impressed by the array of Motorsport related things to do on the day.  So I thought I would dedicate today's post to showing you all some of the photos from our day at the FOS.  I may be female but I love cars and I know that many of my fellow Shopaholics will do too!

The fashion at the Goodwood Festival of Speed was generally very laid back. Having never been to the FOS before I was a little unsure of what to wear, so opted for a really simple outfit of the day.  I wore my Topshop Jamie Jeans teamed with Converse, Topshop Flower mesh oversized tee and my Autograph for Marks and Spencer Handbag.

Luckily the weather was dry all day until we left in the afternoon when the heavens opened, but I was conscious of the weather forecast when selecting my outfit.  I was ready to wear a summer dress and sandals, but knew I would be too cold, with lots of walking involved and so opted for a sensible ensemble.  Most ladies were also wearing similar attire, although some had been brave enough to get their legs out and go for shorts or maxi skirts but nothing outrageously daring.

Goodwood Festival of Speed is basically a huge event including cars racing around a track, manufacturers promoting their latest models and a showcase of lots of different racing cars including Formula One and Vintage cars.  We spotted Christian Horner, Principle of the Red Bull F1 Racing Team as well as Stirling Moss, a former F1 Racing driver.  Lewis Hamilton had tweeted to say that he was attending the FOS yesterday aswell so we were hoping we might spot him and Nicole Scherzinger.

My car of the day was definitely the new Ford Mustang which I was really impressed by.  Ford are only building 100 of the Mustang for the UK initially, all of which have already been snapped up!  The styling of the Convertible is really chic and I loved the interior.  Perfect with the roof down!

I also loved the new Ford Focus ST which has been given a facelift.  I loved the new brightly coloured paintwork, but also the grey with black wheels combination. (You can definitely tell that it is a female stylist writing this article!) The Ford showroom area was really cool and fun and represented the new direction that the brand is moving towards extremely well.  The showroom displayed cars across three levels and had a huge slide and monkey bars for children to play on, keeping them occupied while their parents looked at the cars!

The most anticipated showroom of the day for me was Land Rover.  The Land Rover Experience certainly did not disappoint and similar to Ford, really projected the brand. The Land Rover Experience showcased all of the cars, not only their sought after styling and quality, but also their off-road abilities which are at the core of its brand identity.

Being able to see and sit in my dream car made my day - The Range Rover Sport Autobiography in White with Black 22 inch wheels and a Black Roof. Maybe one day in the not too distant future I will have this car!

The day was complete with an appearance from the Red Arrows which is always fantastic.  There is so much to do and see that I would definitely recommend getting tickets in the future.  You can take a picnic or there is plenty of Food and Drink to purchase.  So all in all Goodwood Festival of Speed is a great day out for not only the men, but for us ladies too and in fact the whole family.

SheInside Dress

The online fashion retailer SheInside offers a wide range of options if you are looking for a dress for any occasion.  If you have not previously purchased anything from SheInside then you can read my SheInside Review watch my SheInside Review video on the Laurashopaholic YouTube Channel.

SheInside offer over 2 million products online and are a great example of bringing the catwalk to life with affordable replicas.  This SheInside Dress was inspired by the Dolce and Gabbana runway and has a stunning baroque theatre print as per the D&G design. The dress is a midi length with cap sleeves and is nipped in at the waist to give a feminine silhouette.

D&G styled the dress on the catwalk with red heeled sandals and chunky earrings with a silk printed headscarf to give the perfect boho look.  The SheInside dress could be styled exactly this way for a designer look at a fraction of the price and would look stunning to make a statement for any summer event.  The baroque theatre print on this SheInside dress will definitely turn heads and people will mistake you for wearing the original designer D&G version.

Take a look at my most recent SheInside Wish List to see more of my favourite pieces currently on the website.

Summer Festival Trend: Double Denim

With the Festival Season well and truly upon us, the Double Denim Trend is a firm favourite of mine when it comes to boho chic.  See how I have styled the Double Denim trend in the latest Laurashopaholic YouTube video below.

Kim Kardashian and Rhianna have been nailing this look recently, tucking shirts into bottoms to give a feminine silhouette.  Kim Kardashian, now Mrs West looks really chic in her double denim ensemble tucking a long sleeve shirt into high waist skinny jeans, accentuating her hour glass figure perfectly with nude heels to finish off the look.

Rhianna also styles her double denim look with a long sleeve shirt and nude stilettos, but instead rolling her the sleeves and teaming it with a ripped denim skirt that sits just above the knee.

The Double Denim Trend is definitely here to stay and examples are all over the high street.  Kim Kardashian and Rhianna's looks are perfect for Spring and for Summer you can swap the long sleeve shirt for sleeveless and the jeans to shorts.  My Summer styling of the Double Denim Trend was inspired not only by Kim Kardashian and Rhianna but also the high street as seen on the H&M catwalk showing that the look is really wearable and perfect for the Summer Festival Season.

OOTD Topshop Drop Waist Dress

Today's video on the Laurashopaholic YouTube Channel features an OOTD Topshop Drop Waist Dress.  The Drop Waist Dress has something of an acquired taste and although I loved them on the catwalks, I was a little apprehensive about styling one on myself as I was not sure how easy one would actually be to wear.  See how I styled a Nautical Drop Waist Dress from Topshop in the video link below.

I fell in love with the drop waist dress trend when I saw one of my style icons Victoria Beckham wearing one from her own Spring Summer 14 collection Victoria, Victoria Beckham.  Mrs Beckham always makes high fashion trends look effortless and I love how she pushes the boundaries of her own style.

The Drop Waist trend is in fact really wearable and looks perfect for the Summer with bare legs.  A drop waist dress can be worn casually for a chic daytime look or can be dressed up for more of glamorous evening style both as shown in the photos of Victoria Beckham above.

How would you style a Drop Waist Dress?  Have you given the Drop Waist look a try?

Do you like how I have styled one in my Youtube video: OOTD Topshop Drop Waist Dress

Clinique 3 Step Review

I recently came to the conclusion that I need to start to look after my skin and I have just started to use the Clinique 3 Step Skin Care products.  To be honest I did not have a clue where to start so I had a consultation with one of the Clinique therapists in Boots who pointed me in the right direction.

When selecting products from the Clinique 3 Step System, I would recommend having a consultation so that you know exactly what products would be the most beneficial for your skin type.  Whether you have dry, oily, acne prone or combination skin then there is a Clinique 3 Step Skin Care routine that will work for you.

If you are thinking about purchasing any of the items in the Clinique 3 Step range then you may find it useful to watch my YouTube video - Clinique 3 Step Review and also my follow up Clinique 3 Step Review video.

When I was younger I had particularly acne prone skin and suffered with sore, spotty, red patches on my face for years which always made me conscious.  I eventually grew out of it as I got older, but still now do not feel I have the 'perfect' complexion (whatever that may be!)  In fact, up until recently my skin was dry around my hairline, acne prone around my chin, nose and oily on my T-Zone.  Therefore, had I purchased any of the Clinique 3 Step items without any advice then I probably would have made the mistake of going for the products formulated for a  'dry' skin type when I actually require those for 'oily' skin.

The products that I purchased and feature in my Clinique 3 Step Review are:

Step 1 Clinique Liquid Facial Soap 200ml £15.50
Step 2 Clinique Clarifying Lotion 400ml £25
Step 3 Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Gel 125ml £29.50
Then: Sun-protector and Primer Clinique City Block Sheer SPF25 £17

The Clinique Liquid Facial Soap foams up really easily without having to use any more than one 'pump' worth and it does not dry out your skin.  Use it first thing in the morning and after taking your make up off at night.  The Liquid Facial Soap prepares your skin for using Step 2 which is the Clarifying Lotion. Prior to using the Clinique skin care products, my face would feel tight after using a facial wash or scrub.  After using the Clinique Liquid Facial Wash my face feels really clean, invigorated and certainly not tight.

I purchased the 400ml Clarifying Lotion as it worked out better value for money.  i can already tell that it is going to last me for ages!  Apply a small amount of Clinique Clarifying Lotion to a Cotton Wool pad and gently wipe over your face and neck, taking care to avoid your eyes and lips.  I had no idea what a Clarifying Lotion actually was previously and always thought that toners were a little bit pointless.  Now that I have tried the Clinique Clarifying Lotion I take all of this back and find that it really does soothe my skin and makes it feel refreshed.  It almost feels as though by using the Clarifying Lotion my skin feels even cleaner!

The final step is to use the Dramatically Different Moisturising Gel.  I used to always be a little apprehensive about using any moisturiser, probably because my skin has a tendency to get so oily.  The Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturing Gel is so light and easily absorbed that my skin feels literally like it has quenched its thirst without my pores feeling clogged up.  What is more is that it smells absolutely divine - almost as if I have just been to have a professional facial.

Although it is not part of the Clinique 3 Step Skin Care System, I also purchased the City Block SPF25.  Use this after you have used the Dramatically Different Moisturising Gel and before applying your foundation. It gives your skin protection from damage caused by sun exposure that can occur every day even if you are not literally laying on the beach.  I find that the City Block works as an excellent primer giving an even, lightweight coverage.

I am delighted with the results of the Clinique 3 Step system and I feel that the products are definitely worth investing in.  I know how important it can be to have skin that you are happy with and I hope that this review helps if you are looking to make a change to your skin care routine.

Remember that products alone cannot give you great skin, they can just help you along the way.  I cannot stress enough the importance of drinking plenty of water throughout every day.  Without this you will never have the skin that you strive for.

Skin is also influenced by so many different factors including hormones and stress, which if affect you considerably then you should consult your GP. There is always something or someone that can help to make you feel better about your skin and it is not an issue that should upset you or get you down.

I hope that you found my review of the Clinique 3 Step skin care products useful.  If you have any questions then please do not hesitate to comment below.

New Look Embroidered Strappy Cami was £17.99 now £14.39!
